Nigeria—5 Farmers Killed In Land Mine Blast Near Maiduguri

At least five people have been killed and 20 injured when their vehicle struck a land mine near the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, reports the Vanguard (Lagos).  On Wednesday, a truck carrying farmers and their harvest from nearby fields struck an explosive device planted in the road outside of the town of Addamari, 12 miles (20 km) from Maiduguri, said residents.  Four people died in the initial explosion.
