Fatah al-Islam
Fatah al-Islam was established on Nov. 29, 2006, when the group declared it was splitting from the "apostate" Fatah al-Intifada (Fatah Uprising), a Syrian-backed Palestinian group based in Lebanon. The message was distributed within the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp in northern Lebanon, the group's existing stronghold.
