The 155-mm GC-45 howitzer was the first towed gun to have a 45-caliber barrel, which is designed to achieve long range while reducing chamber volume. After a short production run, the GC-45 was modified and put into series production in Austria as the GHN-45 (see separate database entry). The GC-45's distinctive feature is its very long barrel.
