The ABSALON-class command and support ships are multipurpose units intended for peacetime expeditionary support operations. They use six to eight portable functional modules installed amidships to carry a 20-man task group commander and staff, a 50-man maritime component commander and staff or a 70-man joint task force commander and staff.
