OVERVIEW The Bahamas is made up of more than 700 islands, many of which are uninhabited. The archipelagic nation has 250,000 sq. km. (96,525 sq. mi.) of territorial waters. The primary threat to its internal security stems from the drug trade in and around Bahamian waters.
