OVERVIEW The Dominican Republic navy operates a limited number of patrol craft and a small naval infantry force. The force has a counter-narcotics mission and guards against illegal immigration into Puerto Rico. The navy also has a special operations unit in San Cristobal province. The naval infantry was reconstituted in November 2008.
