OVERVIEW The state of Kuwait is located on the northwestern edge of the Persian Gulf, wedged between Iraq to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south. Kuwait has 192 miles (310 km) of coastline stretching from the Faw peninsula to the border of Saudi Arabia and contains virtually no natural harbors or anchorages. A small state with an area of 6,880 sq mi (17,800 sq km), Kuwait has an estimated 10 percent of the world's oil reserves by some reckonings; others put it at about 7 percent....
