OVERVIEW The Sultanate of Brunei (in Malay, Negara Brunei Darussalam) is an oil-rich country with an area of only 2,225 square miles (5,760 square km). It is largely surrounded by the state of Sarawak in Malaysia on the South China Sea. The country, which is smaller than the U.S. state of Delaware, is divided by the Sarawak district of Limbang.
