The PMA-3 is a small antipersonnel land mine with a flat cylindrical body. It is detonated by a base-mounted UPMAH-3 chemical action pressure fuze. The PMA-3 is activated when pressure plates are rotated within the mine's lower assembly where the PMA-3's UPMAH-3 fuze is located. The PMA-3 consists of two plates, one fixed and carrying the fuze and the other pivoting about the fuze and containing the main 35 g charge of pressed tetryl.
