OVERVIEW The Tanzanian navy consists of a small combat force on the Indian Ocean and several patrol boats on Lake Victoria. The independent coastal defense force operates a battery of mobile 85-mm artillery. PERSONNEL STRENGTH The total active manpower of the Tanzanian navy is approximately 1,000 personnel, including the coast guard.
