OVERVIEW Tanzania, located on Africa's east coast, was formed by the union of the former British colonies of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. It shares land borders with Kenya to the north, Mozambique to the south, Malawi and Zambia to the southwest, and Rwanda and Burundi to the northwest.
